For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."   Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11

Why is the scripture verse of Jeremiah 29:11 at the top of every page on the Talitha Gems website? The owner of Talitha Gems; Marlene Yogerst, explains:

"My favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 because I believe it is the basis of our very existence. The Most High God, the Creator of the universe and everything in it, loves His creation and that includes us. Because we are all born into this world as sinners, until we repent of our sins, our disobedience of God's will, we have no hope. No hope of peace and happiness in our soul during our walk on this earth and after we die.

Because we are sinners and imperfect, we have no connection to God. We cannot have a relationship with him. Because God abhors sin, we are absolutely lost without Him. Our life after death is in peril and we cannot enter into His kingdom for eternity without true repentance and belief in His Son, Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

However, because of God's great love for us, He has provided a way (His plan) for us to have an intimate relationship with Him. He has provided for us the Great Hope; his Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Savior for all mankind. Through Jesus, we can restore ourselves to a right relationship with our Creator. God has provided this hope so that His plans for us, "the good" mentioned in the scripture can come to pass. Our future; our eternity, will be glorious and not disastrous.

The Hebrews had the law that dictated the rules they needed to follow in order to please God and stay on "good terms" with him. Most importantly, they needed to provide guilt sacrifices of animals without defect to atone for the sins they had committed. Because God knew that keeping all the hundreds of laws would be impossible, he provided one great sacrifice to cover all peoples' sins once and for all. That great sacrifice was the death of God's son, Jesus Christ the Messiah, on the cross at Calvary some 2000+ years ago.

Jesus, God in human flesh, came to earth to teach people righteousness, to heal and to set people held captive in their sins, free. Jesus was perfect. He was absolutely sinless; without defect. Jesus willingly allowed himself to be killed by crucifixion on the cross, to be the supreme guilt sacrifice for the people; Jews and Gentiles. Jesus allowed all sins from all peoples; past, present, and future, to be placed upon him. He became our sacrifice to God for forgiveness of our sins. He paid our price. He suffered torture, ridicule and death for us.

Where's the hope in that you ask? For us, Jesus provided open communication and a relationship with God. Jesus has saved us from the pit of hell; where all sinners, who refuse to accept Jesus, are destined. Not only did Jesus die for us, but He came back to life again. He is at this very moment alive and is our Intercessor at the throne of God. Because Jesus lives, if we believe that he is God's Son, He came to earth and became a sacrifice for our sins, died on the cross and rose again, we also have eternal life. When our earthly body dies, our soul/spirit will immediately be welcomed into heaven. When we ask God to forgive us of our sins through Jesus' sacrificial death, God is extremely gracious and we become an adopted child of God, a brother or sister of Jesus. Therefore, because we become a co-heir with Jesus, we also reap the rewards that Jesus enjoys. That is our future and our hope. Death has no sting because we know that our hope is blissful eternal life in the presence of our Creator. Praise God!

God promised that if you repent (are truly sorry) for the sins you have committed, believe what Jesus did for you on the cross; God will never, ever remember any of your past sins, no matter how awful they may be. You get a clean slate; a do-over.

How do you repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Savior so that you may have the hope of a wonderful future? It's simple as can be! Just say this prayer (a personal conversation); "Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God. I believe that you came to earth and died as a sacrifice for my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead and are living today. I accept you as my Savior. I ask forgiveness for my sins and ask that you come into my heart and be with me always. I thank you for what you have done for me. Amen."

That's it! If you prayed that prayer earnestly, you are saved from eternal damnation in hell and are guaranteed eternal happiness and life in heaven after you die. Imagine that. Living forever in a perfect place. I encourage you to get a study bible and learn more about Jesus and of what God has planned for you!
